People need to look out for themselves.
I've gotten nearly 50 of these scam emails today alone, I usually average about 100 to 150 a day. That's on my personal email address. I report them all.

On my business email, I get less, they still try their scams there as well. One contacted our business by fax. I played with him for three days before I let him know that I was on to him (them) and the scam. He tried to buy something from us with stolen credit cards by overpaying the total and wanted us to "forward" the remaining amount by cashiers check (ie paying $4000 for a $2000 item and sending the remaining $2000 by check).

To say the least, I saved about 10 people from having their credit card accounts used for future purchases (contacted each credit card issuer).

One of the banks I contacted wasn't even AWARE of this scam!!!!!! I told them its been around for over a DECADE. the person I spoke with was surprised that people "did that sort of thing."

Banking rules are stupid, lax and they don't do enough to warn their customers.

People are too gullible and naive and are willing to give up their information at the drop of a hat. In my business, I'm surprised at what information people will give if you just ask...without verifying anything first.

I like the new Fakechecks.org commercials. They help, but its still not enough. Its a start.
