It's easy....
Anti-virus programs detect Window viruses on e-mails and
delete them just in case the Mac user sends the same e-mail to
a Windows user.

Office for Mac users are told as much in their Word and Excel
Helps that viruses in macros that don't affect Macintosh's can be
spread to Windows machines.

So, Mac users that buy anti-virus software help protect the
Windows boxes, not themselves.
