- Just don't leave it connected to the network
- They needed to study their network setup and have a "secure" segment which was completely separate from the general network for this sort of data, especially any wireless segment. Info was not needed for marketing or local store needs anyway so it should have been under strong encryption. A lesson in what not to do.
