Privateers
Privateers have backing. In the Caribbean, privateers were useful to those who wished their enemies harm. Once authorized, the privateers could take from any enemy what ever they could get their hands on. They were not considered criminals. They were not considered pirates. They were a form of mercenary. More than a few eventually were honored with plumb jobs and the respectability of knighthood.

I am proposing that the German arrests reflect growing recognition that the War on Terror is really a war on multinational big business. Those baking the privateers could be any multinational big business, perhaps al Qaida, but perhaps a different terrorist group that is more like the terrorists the United States dealt with after the US Civil War.

This kind of terrorist is nostalgic. He or she wishes to return to the glory days before defeat in a war and the tactics involve actions that suppress the post war new ways.

Today the Germany arrests will likely not identify the true backers. Just like the Klu Klux Klan, those involved, attempt to hide the identity of their real backers. The hood used today is religion.

US patriots such as myself are proposing that the real backers are heads of German big business - especially SAP - woes officers are vocal about preventing further Americanization of German society, but also others, including Warsaw pact nationals who use to develop word processing product at Microsoft and now have taken the wealth to Poland.
