MOST fingerprint readers - be they hardwired into the box or of the USB fob type - are UTTERLY USELESS.

There's a dirty little secret with them. They're extremely easy to defeat - assuming you know the password. And that is by way of Windows Safe Mode.

Safe mode loads only the basic drivers - those needed for operation. It doesn't even load the USB subsystem in most cases. Therefore, if you KNOW the password or can guess at it, you can boot into safe mode and get around those stupid little things.
