S/W design incompetence and lowest cost resources
As I mentioned in the feedback to the first article, this wasn't a direct intent by Sony to compromise our systems. It's just the latest result from hiring lowest-cost implementers who don't have the design competence or the quality focus to do the job right.

"Unintentional" is not an excuse. At best it implies lack of competence and quality, at worst it shows willful negligence. If Sony expects its brand to be respected, it better do more than just profess ignorance.
