Doesn't sound right

"Akamai refused to provide greater detail about Tuesday's attacks, citing a need to keep mum on the details of the company's architecture and to avoid giving more publicity to the attackers."

There's no security through obscurity here, your DNS stopped working, the traffic drop isn't consistent with a DOS attack, if millions of Zombie PCs did it, then every ISP in the world would know the details not just you.

and since when have security experts talked on conditions of anonymity?
