Fine, let me clarify
As a desktop user of Linux not running any of the possible services required, as well as running behind a 7 layer security defense, this is not an issue.

For network servers, this may be an issue, IF the services are available AND IF the person using it actually has admin rights. But again thier must me actual human intervention to make it happen. There is no code send and watch it spread then auto execute capacity to this.

But since Linux is used for more than just servers and generally those of us using Linux as a desktop are smart enough to shut off or better yet not even install server applications / services this is a not a remote issue.

Now if someone gets into my house, manages to figure out my root password then I guess this would be an issue, but then I actaully think I would have a much larger issue at hand. Don't you?

Another thing ShadeTree and all the other non-Linux folks, if someone is running a terminal service such as SSH as root, then chances are pretty darn good it's an admin, do you think he will run this on his systems he admins? If someone have gained root access to the box then again this is a moot point, now isn't it?

Use the gray matter between your ears for more than preventing your cranial cavity from collapsing.

Now what this shows is that there is a problem, the community has identified it and is now taking action to correct it. It will also start people to looking into alternatives to this so they can find any other potential errors and get those corrected as well. Unlike the other OS's out there, at least the Linux community has admitted there is a problem, identified what the problem is and is now actively correcting the problem.
