Yes, a reason for Microsoft to go into AV

You reminded me that not everyone already uses an antivirus. Aside from some experts who are willing to devote a lot of time, this means people who are not knowledgeable leaving themselves vulnerable.

At least if Microsoft includes its own antivirus, people would have an immediate choice to install an antivirus.

However, most new pc's I've seen have embedded a "free trial" of some antivirus, usually McAfee and sometimes Norton. Takes awhile to dig them out and get rid of them. Add/Remove alone doesn't do it. (If I couldn't add a freebie like AVG or Avast, I'd install Trend.)

If almost all new pc's have something installed, then this won't be an issue.
