My question is really this; if they are so concerned to start offering virus protection for their software why not make it open for all to protect?
They are building the wall that no one will want to cross. No money in supporting MS software anymore as they will take it over.. Do you really think they will release the same info to, lets say Symantec, that they use internally? No they wont,, it doesnt pay them to do that. With this final move they will quash developement of their platform.
They feel they can do it better. Well obviously they cant. (unless all the virus exploits were leading up to this anyway. and one could think that). Whose to say that the AV stuff they offer wont be as riddled with holes as windows?
You know what.. I changed my mind.. Please do this MS. We need more software developement on other platforms. This will sinch it.
Also why shouldnt something so wholey infected be subject to third party security? The government hires contractors to guard establishments and hole countries. Why should an OS that is "essential to the economy" be regulated/monitored in the same way? They are asking for more Antitrust actions with this.
