As Voska said before me, everyone brings brain matter into the world with them, so the amount does increase.

You're thinking of a mob.
As an old analysis put it,
The intelligence of a mob is equal to the IQ of the stupidest member divided by the number of people.
A mob can only get dumber.

And as a mob gets bigger, it gets more disruptive.
As you put it:
NEVER underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups.
