The difference escapes me.
They are both unauthorized installations.
They both exploit flaws.
They both are unwanted.
My friend called it a virus, and I have to see it as the same.
He didn't put it on his computer, he didn't want it on his computer, and it wasn't easy to get rid of. It's a virus that pops up ads.
