"Beyond a reasonable doubt"
The standard for criminal conviction is "proof beyond a reasonable doubt", not "Absolute proof" as if it were mathematics.

As for police or anyone else planting evidence -- it can happen (and does) in the real world as well as on your computer. That's why we have trial by jury, and why trials have rules of evidence.

The planted evidence argument is a lot easier to believe when it's a one-time single item -- like a gun 'found' in your car. It's a lot harder to sell when it's a whole series of events originating from your computer over months.

Yes, it's conceivable someone broke into your computer 50 times over two months to frame you. But is it reasonable?
