I see the day rapidly approaching where I will take my computer off the internet, and only use the most basic email service through a special-purpose filter. The risks of being zombied, blackmailed or framed is just escalating faster than any benefit of the net.

Companies like CNET should take note: all of these situations affect your livelihood. I already disable lots of potential security holes like scripts, Java, Flash, and banner ads. But at the same time sites like yours are making use of this technology to deliver advertising that I NO LONGER SEE. How long will it be before sponsors realize that they are losing contact with viewers because websites can't move the material through all of the blocking technology??

My brother probably has the best idea: the computer he lets his kids use to access sites like Youtube and Myspace is essentially scrubbed and rebuilt every couple of months. His kids each have a thumbdrive to store whatever they've kept from the web, but that's it. And the computer that they use to do their schoolwork is NOT connected to the web at all.
