- Liberals!!
-
The biggest problem we have with freedom in this country is liberalism. That includes both of our major political parties. The Republicans throughout our history have moved us towards socialism, true, but at a much slower pace than have the Democrats. The Republicans, after the attack on the WTC, seem clearly to have jumped right in and taken over the normally Democratic agenda, and passed some of the most restrictive and outlandish laws yet. But, lets not forget that for 40 years the Democrats had control of congress and, during that time, pushed us to the very brink of being the "1984" society that Orwell wrote about. We've actually been there for a long time, but it just hasn't been truly noticeable, till we started losing more freedoms to "secure" our borders.
My stepfather used to always call Democrats and unionists, "Comrade" because he always believed that they were turning the US into a socialist country. I for one believe he was right. This country was founded as a Constitutional Republic - it is Democracy that has ruined it. I'm not saying there hasn't been some good to come from the liberal point of view, just that for the most part it has destroyed the country that was originally established. But, the worst is yet to come! In the next presidential election, the liberals will probably get the oval office back with either Hillary or Obama. Neither of these choices will be good for the country, as both of them would like to see the US come under the umbrella and authority of the United Nations. Neither of them have any respect for individual effort. They think that everything should be taken from the working and prosperous individual, to be doled out to the those who refuse to work and contribute to society. They want all education to reflect their political point of view, and if a student promotes another point of view, it's an "F" for him/her.
I'm an atheist, but I fail to see the harm in a country, founded by believers, of having "In God We Trust" on our money, or prayers in school, or swearing on the Bible in court. After all, if you are a non-believer, you don't HAVE to put your hand on the Bible and swear before God. You only need to swear to tell the truth. You don't HAVE to pray in school, just bow your head in respect to those who DO believe. And I can spend my money just as easily as the next guy, in spite of not buying into the Christian mythology. In all my years of living, I have never been hurt by all this religious BS that has been pushed at me. So why give a sh--!. - Posted by: cheesyone Posted on: 07/17/07 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
