If you are running Windows...
...consider running your internet session inside a VMware 'Browser Appliance (Ubuntu Linux)' virtual machine instance.

If you opt for VMware Server, you can then choose to install a prepacked vmx of several different Linux distros, including openSUSE 10.2.

openSUSE 10.2 includes AppArmor which puts a secure 'sandbox' around any 'application' (running in your Linux memory space) to keep any 'nasties' from escalating privilege to root.

You can 'snapshot' the VM so that it 'resets' its state to the read-only condition prior to your last session so there are no residuals (cookies, javascript remnants) left present to pose a threat.

No cost other than your time to set up (VMware Server or Player, both are free).

Or you can make a 'bold' move to Linux entirely and set up VMware with your 'beloved' Windows XP as an 'app' inside Linux, which is essentially what I have set up in 'suspended' mode so that I can 'on demand' WinXP in 3 seconds!

The above are good alternatives that result in a more secure system for internet access.

Thanks
