Naw you are not in a bad mood
"I want action that delivers."

The fourth estate (the news media) and these "security companies" think that any OS maker should have an emotional reaction of "OH MY GAWD!!!" (insert pic of people running around in rampid fear) whenever a problem is found. On the contrary Apple's "emotional" response has been measured and matter of fact followed by the appropriate action, "action that delivers".

"But what is needed, Adams and others contend, is more dialogue about what the company is doing with regard to security."

In WWII there was a saying, "Loose lips sinks ships." Not bashing Microsoft here, but I have seen instances where Micorosft has trotted out some talking head to address security concerns only to eat those words later. Contrary to popular belief actions do speak louder than words and quietly going about ones business is far wiser than "reporting" to the media or some research group every time they raise their head.

IMHO that is what Apple does.

Back to my cave I go.
