And not every source code submitter is a Linux kernel contributor. First your work has to be reviewed and then it has to be accepted by the maintainer and committed into the source tree. Sometimes even good code with no traps built into it is rejected simply because it doesn't mesh well with the current direction that the code base is being herded along.
