Successful Linux hack

This was a HACK. THe hack was detected, due to the inconsistancy in the code. They dont' know where the HACK came from.
If the code passed said checks, then it would be stuff that was legitimatly contributed, thus it could be traced back to the contributor.

Lets say that the Hack was not a Trojan, but perfectly virtuous code submitted by someone who used another programmer's identification to post it.
In that case, it is still a hack.

I know, the actual trees were protected. But if someone can post to the exposed code with a false name, why not to the actually vulnerable software?

No-axe wins this piece of his argument: it is apparently possible to post something to Linux under false pretenses.
