Lesson learned from Firestone!
Software companies are not going to enjoy "sovereign immunity" for shoddy products forever, and the eventual liability will make the Firestone tire fiasco look like small potatoes.

A public "knowledge base" of previous security flaws would go a long way toward eliminating their repeatition which seems to be the common thread here. That is how lawyers make a fast buck. They have this enormous database of succesfull suits for nonobvious but common mistakes that they all share and can search.
