More protecting people from themselves
My personal belief is that if someone wishes to give up their personal privacy, feel free to let them.

When it is enforced upon you, you lose that choice and therefore loose the opportunity to express yourself.

If Gmail caused a rise in identity theft, or fraud, then I would be concerned. Instead, I see greedy corporations getting in line to shove adds down the throats of people who happen to use specific keywords.

Intrusive, yes. But this is no different than what MSN or Yahoo can do. Atleast Google has the sense to tell you upfront that they are scanning your email.

Would the government give you the same civil liberty?
