what can torrentspy track?

If I understand how bittorrent correctly, sites like torrentspy and isohunt merely provide a listing service for trackers. They provide torrent files, which, if we want to have a download occur, we have to supply as input to a client program. Let's leave aside the issue of whether that constitutes abetting of infringement for now.

It is the trackers, in turn, that provide online lists of seeds and leaches. These tracker systems may not be torrent listing sites although some appear related.

The actual act of downloading occurs between relatively unknown ip addresses. The only way for someone to prove infringement would be to use the bittorent systems for particular items they want to protect. Then they merely need to see who is in the swarm.
