They should have extended the law on fax spam to cover email spam. Although snail mail is still annoying, it doesn't cost us much to dispose of it. However like fax spam email spam uses up our resources which cost us significant amounts. Spam should be totally banned.
I'm in favour of using the strongest filters as long as they don't block none spam.
It's about time that there was a requirement that all SMTP servers have use Authentication so that only known users can send via them. If they had to use SSL as well then all the better.
