Fat chance
I understand that you're saying that MSFT offering bounties
is a good idea, but in your enthusiasm you're overlooking a
few important points. Do you really hang out with that
many criminal wannabes? You want us to believe that your
circle of friends includes world-class hackers?

Actually, I'm just poking a little fun at cha'. You may belong
to a gang of very talented hacks for all I know. What I'm
saying is that the majority of people, such as myself, do not
have those kinds of friends, so as far as I'm concerned the
bounty is just to create a diversion. How about MSFT
making good to those who lost thousands or even millions
to the virus attacks?

The only concern that MSFT has about security is that they
can use their current lack of it to create even stronger
proprietary lock-in schemes. Honestly, MSFT wants us to
believe that all it took for them to get serious about
security is for Mr. Gates to write a memo about it? The use
of passwords has been around since the creation of
software so the need for security has always been with us.
Nothing like leveraging a software monopoly to force your
customers to upgrade to features that should have been
there in the first place!

If MSFT can tell people in their commercials that they can
save millions by using their software, does that include the
recovery cost from trojan horses and script kiddie macros
gone awry?
