Who's at fault?
So, you blame the crime of the criminal on the ills of society?
How idiotic!!!

The fact is, what do you do about the CORPORATE thieves? They usually have PLENTY of education, much more than the poor schluck who steals to support his crack, smack, or amphetimine habit. In addition, they usually have had several jobs by the time they become corporate thieves, so you can't use the excuse of not being able to "make a living" any other way.

How about Winona Ryder? She was busted for shoplifting clothing, and had beau coup bucks in her bank account easily accessible by using her Bank card. She certainly had no problems buying it, if she wanted it.

Most folks steal for a simple reason: They want what others have. No more, no less.

Some (more than a few nowadays, in fact), like Ms. Rider, steal just for the thrill of it.

A more reasonable answer would be "Different folks steal for different reasons." But ULTIMATELY THEY are at fault for their OWN thievery. No one else. Not the victim, not Society in general. The THIEF himself is at fault.

So, let's put it this way:

The thief is at fault for taking what does not belong to him, and the victim is at fault for failing to exercise good judgment when he/she left his/her property in a place where it could be easily-ripped off by unprincipled people.
