No it's your more likely to have your car stolen if you leave it parked in a parking stall still looking like a car. You should put it in some type of carrying device so no-one knos it's really a car.
I guess the story is trying to tell us that keeping laptops in laptop bags which also hold our other kit to go with the laptop, like power cords and extra batteries is not the thing to do.
This is like telling women not to wear purses because people will think their money is in there.
I'm sorry but the blame the victim line is a bit old. Why are laptops being stolen? because thieves can sell them for money.
This is caused by two problems, people steal, stuff to make a living because they are not able to any other way and people would rather buy a stolen laptop for $200 then a new one for $1900.
Fix the first problem by eduaction and better job opertunities for those in society who other wise have to steal to live. Fix the second by not buying stolen property and penalties fro those who do.
