Surely the infrastructure that Trend is building for this would be designed to handle the traffic and even if the page was scanned the first time it could be cleared for a specified time, untill it needed scanning once more.

Isn't this the same technique Hacker Safe and Verisign already use?

It's not surprising they would encourage using some other third party browser, because IE 7 and some other popular browsers already slow down to scan for anti-phishing filtering. Perhaps their product would be faster and more efficient, especialy if for example they developed a BHO or similar plugin\distro for Opera; so that implementation of this ability could be expedited.

A lot of people already use GhostSurf and similar products and I don't hear them compaining about slow downs; of course no scanning or filtering is going on in that process; but it points to the same bandwidth/processing issues that the Trend project could entail.
