Advice
a) Stick to trusted websites.
b) If you use Vista, make sure UAC and IE's Protected mode are always on, even if you don't use IE.
c) If you use Firefox, use NoScript.
d) Don't click links from emails. Always use your bookmarks or type the URL directly.
e) Beware of URLs that are slightly different: e.bay.com, secure-ebay.com, and ebay.secure.com are NOT the same as ebay.com.
f) Always have antivirus and anti-spyware installed, and always keep them up to date.
g) Always keep Windows and IE up to date. Even if you use Firefox or another browser, keep IE up to date anyways.
h) A hardware firewall (or router) and software firewall should both be used. No, Microsoft's firewall is not enough, not even as a software firewall. Other firewalls offer more complete protection.
i) As always, stick with good security practices, and keep up to date on the latest threats. Being informed is always the best protection.
