The 70's show...Believe this or not....
Do a job search on IBM 3745 or IBM 3725, controllers for the IBM/370..er..Z390/Z-series what-its-name IBM mainframe. You will find that some private businesses STILL use them for confidential data systems. They may not have a dumb terminals anymore because many of them were leased and the old mainframe based printers are often too expensive to maintain. Its cheaper to buy a 486 with Windows 3.1/95, RUMBA term-emulation software, and a cheap dot-matrix printer for everyone. How can you get a the new "send-me-data" virus on your PC if your PC can't run Office 2000/XP and has no Internet access? You can't.

That's how you secure confidential data. If your employees need Office/Internet, they need TWO PCs. One for normal office data processing and one locked-down PC connected only to the mainframe for confidental information. A few places do this to secure patient data, because of the old Healthcare and new HIPAA laws, they think they have to. Imagine that our patient data could be more secure than important information on government computers??? That's a truly scary thought!
