It's quite true that the real vector for any virus, even one that's not for the computer, is basically ignorance. Not to insult people, but rather they simply do not know how clever these tricksters can be. Any platform can be exploited this way.

To the learned, the whole thing is blatantly obvious. All we can do is spread the word (and some common sense). It's the innocent - those who just want to enjoy the web and such - who suffer the infections and help propagate them.

No matter how 'secure' Windows is now, it has far more viri and trojans to contend with than any other platform, so for the novice user, I'd say Mac OS and Linux are the best options. Let the battle-hardened contend with using Windows online.
