style sheet?
One of the casualties of the internet phenomenon "whatever we wrote this morning is archival-only this afternoon" is a thoughtful and careful consideration of just what this site should say, and how.

For print journalists the style sheet has been the staple, the first and final arbitrar of every question about whether to put periods in "the UN/U.N." or whether to require "the Internet" or allow "the net".

I suspect no such document has been compiled. The closest thing may be some scribbled notes or a flurry of emails shared among the various editors. I hope this is the case, that we can blame the lack of a style sheet--else the quality of editing is horrid!

If these sites are going to continue to evolve a singular identity rather than stay a container for a loose collection of posts from various contributors, each with an individual writing style, there needs to be one document covering all these things.

That would tell just when a pop phrase such as "zero day" would be used. It would also ensure that an on-site list of defined terms would not miss today's "jargon du jour."
