What does that have to do with giorgio_z's post?
You're absolutely right, Loverock - Microsoft Outlook (and most email clients) DO pop up a warning whenever a user attempts to open an email attachment.

Here's a thought for you, and try to think outside your box when you read this.

As giorgio_z said, there are those who depend on email for the exchange of files. These people are accustomed to opening files every day, several times a day. So much so that they don't have time to read the warning every time, or they've become immune to it. If they unknowingly receive an infected email, and as part of their normal course of duties, open the attachment, they've just infected their computer. It's arguable as to whether they could be blamed, since they perform this function so often it's become almost robotic.

Loverock, I understand that this isn't an issue for someone like you, who receives very few attachments and presumably knows how to check for suspicious emails. Lemme enlighten you - when you post here, you're preaching to the choir, and you sound like a real dolt doing it. MOST of us who are reading your posts already know this. MOST of us also support many, many users who DON'T know this, or choose to ignore our warnings to them about it. THESE are the people we worry about.

If everybody we supported followed the computer security habits you preach, we'd all have easy jobs, and Microsoft wouldn't have to spend so much money creating, testing, and distributing the patches to fix the user-triggered holes in their software.

The fact that Microsoft DOES spend so much of their resources patching their software is proof enough that your drivel on this topic is nothing more than mindless shilling.

I doubt you will read this, Loverock - I suspect you stopped reading my responses to you because you're tired of being on the losing end of our discussions. However, I don't think my posts are entirely in vain. I'm sure there are too many others (ONE other is too many) who think like you, and maybe those will read my posts (as well as those of others who argue against you) and turn away from the Dark Side.
