Average is sometimes good enough

My daughter is running a little faster board than your son, but she is on 98 with a special freeware browser for her net access. No IE for her as I locked it up and she would have to know the password to run it. She can do her homework, play Neopets till her eyes cross and dress Polly Pockets and Barbie to her heart's content.

Most home users are like the kids. They don't need all the cr@p that Gatesco insists we can't live without. Yet he keeps tweaking and the more he tweaks, the more holes get opened. Comes a point where people just need to stand up and do the "Network" shout from the rooftops...

I personally do not look forward to another round of patches. It seems the more we patch, the more rips in the network fabric. :P
