- Whatever happened to windowsupdate.microsoft.com?

Just went to windowsupdate.microsoft.com to install the patch on my Windows 2000 computer at work. There are no available patches, meaning the patch this article is talking about isn't on there yet.
Why is it that I hear about these patches on news sites several hours and sometimes even days before they are available on the site that Microsoft wants everybody to go to to keep their systems secure?
