Although 3.0 is fairly low on the Vista scale...
My system logs a 5.3 (at a bit less than twice what yours cost, however), I still heartily agree with your Mac comparison, which is a big part of why I finally left the platform in 2003.

Currently, Mac BRAGS about one of their LOADED Intel systems with 1 GB of RAM a SINGLE superdrive and a 250 GB hard drive for about $2,500... and a slower Intel core 2 duo than the 2.4 Ghz I have (2.13, I think). I just don't know HOW they justify that.

Of course, right now I'm back on XP again because I couldn't get Media Center to work right under Vista, but I suspect it was my Photoshop Elements 4.0 installation, which was incompatible with Vista, and which I haven't reinstalled since I reinstalled XP... I'm waiting until a SLOW TV day to try re-upgrading to Vista again, however, but I likely will, as although Media Center is recording now, and was playing LAST NIGHT, I tried to get it to do "Live TV" earlier during one of the recordings so I could leave the room for a while and catch up when I came back and it gave me a Video error. I'll have to wait until recordings are finished to reboot and see if I can get Live TV to work again (Man, Media Center can be a PAIN).

At any rate, you're still right about your system, because you can probably still upgrade that low-end HP system you have, ye (I'm betting it's an HP by the configuration) a lot further, easier and better than someone could upgrade a Mac Mini -- and for FAR less money.
