Applications for Vista
As the article observes, a main reason for security vulnerability is applications written without making security a priority, such as programs that require administrator privileges.

Because the Federal market is so large, this can have an impact on new versions of these products.

I wonder if the new versions with approved security will run on XP or any other version of Windows all the Federal agencies are running.

This directive could mean prompt, wholesale conversion to Vista. Good news for the agencies and Microsoft.

If Flash is to be disabled by default, bad news for macromedia. But deserved.

Of course, directives are not always followed to the letter. Which might be good news for Federal employees trying to do their jobs.
