Why you are wrong.
If Microsoft was able to dictate the hardware platform and the software you run on it, then you might have a case. But as it is, Windows is a generic OS for the masses and it is up to you to use it appropriately.

To use your Corvair analogy, yes there are some liability issues for use, but ONLY when you use it according to GM's restrictions. If you took that coravir and installed a 500 H.P engine (changing the platform) and drove it in a race (software use) GM would have no liability at all if it self destructed and killed the operator.

By the same token, if you converted the Corvair for use as a field tractor, GM would laugh at you if you complained that it didn't work.

I am certain MS can give you a nearly flawless PC if they decide what hardware it will have and what software is allowed. Now, is that what you really want??? I don't!!!!!
