It's not MS's hardware you have an issue with, it's SMC. All MS included was a better web administration UI boxed up with SMC routers and adapters.

I should know, as oddly enough I ended up with both the original SMC wireless unit, as well as the MS-branded one, and they are truly identical other than interface. (The MS interface is far superior.)

Both worked (and continue to work) great, each needing a single firmware update after I purchased them. (Both better than the Linksys stuff I've used.)
