Really? Come on...
There is a big problem with this mentality of searching every crevice to find that one byte of data that saves the country. Valid, finding that byte of data is a big deal and should be a big priority if it really is that important, but if you really do look in every niche, like the article says, you will be swamped so thoroughly that even the low priority data will never be found. Of course, putting in more man power will theoretically solve this, but then it drains the country in other areas, making the solution to the problem the new problem in and of itself, reguardless of whether or not the first problem was ever solved.

Another problem is the "1984" issue. Don't get me wrong, I'm not jumping the "cops are pigs" gun... Law enforcement is there for a reason and so are forensics labs, but before we know it we'll be searched and seized blind for petty crimes which have nothing to do with data that might be stored in our valued possessions. An exaggeration? Hopefully, but regrettably it seems like it's being pushed in that direction. The key is being smart about the situation and not falling into blind bureaucratic tradition, one of America's favorite pasttimes.
