LLF impossible for 20 years now
Bet me and lose!
The HD that was infected/affected was a 20GB drive only two years
old. I was also informed that no manufacturers claimed that a LLF would ever be necessary, but I don't know of a one that states that it cannot be done. Also, there is a mandate of the U.S. (as well as numerous other countries) that requires all HD's now to have a LLF run on them a minimum of three times before they can legally get rid of that drive.
As for finding out how it had to be done, it took me getting the
instructions from the one that had found the problem.
As for the IDE; everything that could be done was done to try to
eliminate the problem. A lot of changes, but the problem still existed.

It took me four months of trying, talking, asking, seeking, and buying another PC before the problem was found by a local person here, and the remedy for the problem implemented. Absolutely nothing had worked to that point, but afterwards everything was working exactly as it was intended, and all back to the original system, and none of the attempted changes left in place.

So, as I found out, a LLF IS still doable.
