HEY LOOK!
WE MIGHT GET ATTACKED AGAIN BY TERRORISTS! That's essentially the same mentality I am seeing in this article. The probability of a hardware based attack is very low at best. And even if there was a way to do it easily or I should say in a viable way, as the other poster above pointed out. How the heck are we supposed to scan firmware when those details are excluded from us the consumer AND what, people will have to run yet ANOTHER protection mechanism?

Gee sounds to me as though the best thing to do is unplug completely and move to a commune with no technology! With all the "bad" things that can happen to your cell phone, computer etc... why bother?
