Its so simple - just follow the money
There is the famous story of the bank robber Willie Horton being asked why he robbed banks. He replied, duh, "That's where all the money is. ..."

If Lots of average users start using Linux, the cyber-crooks will be all over it. This is absolutely without a doubt.

Linux uses unmanaged code in its OS from top to bottom. Therefore it contains the same basic achilles heel that Windows has - if you can find an unhandled exception, you can exploit it. Its simply a question of whether its worthwhile yet or not.

My advice: Be careful what you wish for. If Google is successful, Linux will be adopted by more low-budget users, and there will be a growing reason to write exploits to target them.
