What a crock!!!
If you buy into this crock of an explanation then you'll be with MS the rest of your life and never know what truth, value and freedom really are.

"Microsoft said it hoped the new state would lead to better experiences for customers. "If a system or network error prevents an accurate status check, Microsoft wants customers to know that and have the option to fix the problem," Microsoft said. "We have seen many instances where the failure to complete validation is masking other system problems that users should attend to."

I choked on my coffee this a.m. when I read it. And then again when I read some of the posters defending this move as a good fix for the WGA validation fiasco. Haven't you all got it yet? MS is pushing you off all previous versions of their O/S and into the restrictive arms of Vista. This is their move to attempt to "lock"current XP users to the point of frustration that MS believes the natural path would be to Vista.

MS spent tons of R&D money and time on the XP upgrade called Vista and their potential next upgrade called Longhorn they have nothing left for backward compatibility or fixes. They NEED you, no they're DESPERATE for you all to move to their latest and most crippling O/S so that they can capture the home market on media convergence. Why else do you think they accommodated RSA and Hollywood et al with DRM?

So you all just need to grow up and smell the coffee. Either you will be a permanent slave of MS and Hollywood and no doubt at some point if not already, Homeland Security, or you'll stand up and shout "I'M NOT GOING TO TAKE THIS ANYMORE. GIVE ME CHOICES OR SHOVE THIS O/S WHERE THE SUN DON"T SHINE!!!"
