Why dont they make it so small homes can use 1 copy

I am still Runnug windows 98 on some computers in my home. Since I build my own for my households and have several teenagers who love my hand me downs, I share with them. We would all love the usability of winodws XP or newer versions that the web makes necessary however I can not even use my windows xp on their computers. I mean C'mon, we buy the software, Homeowners are not big businesses but I don't have the kind of money to pay 150 bucks for each PC to run windows. Microsoft, like the present government does what they want thinking we all have endless pockets, always at our expense. I will not buy windows Vista or any other version unless they get off this track. When I get a copy of windows that I can load on all the PCS in my home, they we'll talk. Otherwise I stay stuck where I am until I learn Linux. Greed Causes competition and larger downfalls. By the way. Apple has programs that make PC programs work on their computers, we don't have the opposite. Even though microsoft stole their initial OS from Steve Jobs, He is the true master of computers. Going APPLE is yet another choice and they are not attacked or crash as much as microsoft! Something to think about. Go ahead be greedy, But some of us are smart enough to get fed up and look elsehere!
