I don't profess to be an expert but......
I'm no expert, my example was largely based around the situation of that of a home user - the types of home users who buy a system new and never update it!

What I just described previously is fairly basic stuff - even my 65 year old father can do it!

However, with a sturdy firewall, properly configured user-access rights and up-to-date anti-virus software these vulnerabilities should not present a problem. That is, until some home user who has not updated their system since they bought it brings in a infected floppy disk!!!

All I'm saying is Microsoft shouldn't be blamed for every vulnerability which occurs in an extremely complex OS. Especially when they patch it three weeks before the virus which exploits the vulnerability is released! After all, the only reason the writers of this virus managed to create it was by reverse-engineering the patch and exploiting the original hole.

And with regards to patching a 24/7 server and making sure the patches don't screw anything else up - well, if I knew how to do that perfectly every time. I'd be out earning my million and retiring within 12 months!!
