And that is why MS should be made to recall there OS
"I still see traffic in our logs from Code Red infected boxes."

How long has the fix been in for Code Red? Over a year now? Microsoft released a free, yes it is free including postage, update disc. BTW there has been at least 10 crit updates since not included in the disc. The patch for Code Red was included on the disc. The disc was announced and then info campaign on how to get the disc fizzled to nothing. I wonder how many people ordered and applied the patches? Because of this Microsoft should be forced to publicly recall all computers with a MS OS (serverware included) to update the machines.

They (Microsoft) can have Bestbuy, Comp USA etal update the systems for the users and Microsoft pay the way. If this is done ONE time you can bet Bill Gates himself will make sure the holes are plugged before any new software is released for sale. The end users can be schooled at the same time about applying patches. I know of no other products, merchandise, or commoditites in the world that require as much maintenance as Windows operating system. The buyer has an implied assurance that the product they purchase or rent is free of defects. Cripes Firestone was required to recall and replace all tires whether there was a problem or not.

Bill Gates said that his product was critical to national security. If that is truth then he needs to fix the product before a greater damage is done. It is bad enough that a business must absorb the costs of patches (especially when a fix must be applied to a fix).

I hear calls for more laws against hackers etc. Laws ain't gonna do no good till the damn barn door is shut. Microsoft needs to fix their product.
