Software, the land of low expectations...

If only 6 bugs are found a year that could potentially give up your name, social security number, credit card number, mothers maiden name, or anything else you could possibly have stored anywhere on your computer, we call that success. Amazing. I really need to reevaluate how I do my job. I thought it was my job to put out software that works as advertised and contains no bugs. Anything less is failure. Enough failures and you know that this isn't really your bag and it's time to find something else to do for a living. I really thought "this is the attitude that makes professionals professional". If I knew that I could just screw up every once in a while and it really didn't count because I hadn't gone over my limit for the year, there are a lot of projects I just wouldn't have put in the extra hours for.
