Yes... Oh puhleeze Silly Milly!!!
Talk about lost credibility and rants...

>>> Patching my iBook - done automatically (and several
more than just 3-4 per year - so far, I have had that many
for the OS already since its release, if not more) and is no
more or less painful than patching my Windows machines.
>>>

And was the topic of this article and thread not ?Windows
security/worm problems and MS patches/fixes? or was it
?software updates/upgrades in general?? Were all (many) of
those iBook ?patches? security-based?

Apple has issued a hand full of security-based (considered
serious) ?patches? vs the regular MS patch of the week (now
grouped per month for optics sake... was it about 20 in the
last ?mega-patch??).

There are numerous other Apple ?patches? or upgrades
available on a regular basis but not necessarily security-
based or even absolutely necessary (ie, if you don?t use iCal
or have an iPod... what or where?s the problem or need to
?patch??).

Many Mac users get by without these updates with little or
no problems... ?if it ain?t broke, don?t fix it?. At work I?m
still running OSX 10.2.3 on a dual 1.42 GHz G4 with no
problems or incentive to upgrade until I switch to Panther
(which will be soon... working at a college with the
semester just ended and workload not as hectic).

Today, thru Apple?s Software Update, I find POSSIBLE (not
?critical?) updates to... Quicktime, the iPod, OSX (depending
on the version you?re running), Stuffit Expander (hardly an
Apple problem), iCal and iTunes... none of which match the
seriousness and frequency of MS patches and bug fixes.
(NOTE... I?m not claiming Apple, or anything, is perfect...
just maybe closer to ?perfect? than MS.)

>>> Get your rants straight if you want to be taken
seriously and not dismissed as just another clueless basher
who can't wait to gloat over a vulnerability. Remove the
beam in your eye before you start commenting on motes in
others'. >>>

Are you also going to deny the latest MS mega-patch didn?t
cause more harm than good in many Wintel boxes (mostly
W2K? 100% processor usage? Won?t boot?)???

Maybe you should first get that mote out of YOUR eye so
you can read and comprehend before issuing a knee-jerk,
?red-herring?, off-topic MS defense and ?rebuttal?.

Or if you?re so enamored with Windows, read about and
implement the Mac OSX wannabe solutions listed here...

Or read about the MS employee (?Lenn Pryor (of Microsoft),
a director of Windows platform evangelism...?), who, if
accurate, ?OSXed? his VAIO XP laptop...

At least then you can have the APPEARANCE and some of
the FUNCTIONALITY of a quality OS happy
