Yes, yes you do...
If you have a remotely exploitable vulnerability in servers running on the public network, weak passwords on an exposed login account or are running ssh version 1 protocol or any other number of known Linux coding failures, running RPC and PORTMAP protocols with poor/no firewalling, or just even running unpatched XWindows with poor/no firewalling, you are either going to be rootkitted or botted. And even as we sit here, yes there probably is some patch that Debian 3.0 needs installed that you probably haven't bothered installing. Bots started in the Linux world with all the nice IRC type stuff where people want to own your machine and turn it into an IRC server. Sorry dude, I use Linux and have had to deal with all the above, mindless drivel promotion not needed from the no-Linux-Flaws jihadists...
