why is it a 'crime'? if you cant protect your systems, thats your problem. i think laws that make hacking illegal indirectly encourage weak insecure systems, especially govt ones.

i sit at my computer, and i pay to have some electrons vibrate at a port on my wall. i use my computer to make them vibrate some more. nothing i do from such a set-up can be illegal. if i can do something that hurts u, thats ur fault, not mine. the worst i should ever face is for my ISP to take away my connection, refunding any advance fees i've paid ofcourse.
